This autumnal afternoon treat incorporates our new LivelyGreen Tea, which has aromatic hints of ginger and lemon. And thanks to the automatic tea programme available on our coffee machines, the brewing temperature will always be perfect
120g plain flour
15 grams Miele LivelyGreen tea
120g caster sugar
6 whole eggs
60 ml vegetable oil
80 ml water
½ tsp salt
Preheat a Miele oven on the Conventional Heat setting at 180°C.
Place Miele LivelyGreen tea leaves and salt in a pestle and mortar and grind finely. Sieve flour and tea together into a bowl and set aside.
Divide the egg yolks and whites and keep them in separate bowls.
Beat the egg whites with an electric whisk and add 60g of sugar in batches, until stiff peaks form.
Combine the remaining sugar with the egg yolks and whisk until thick and pale with an electric whisk. Add in oil and water and whisk until incorporated.
Add the egg yolk mixture to the sifted flour and whisk until just combined.
Gently fold the egg white mixture into the flour until just combined.
Grease and line a 24cm chiffon cake pan (or springform tin), add in the cake mixture and tap the cake tin a couple of times.
Place on a wire rack and bake for 30 minutes.
Allow to cool before serving.
