Prepared in our Steam Oven or Gourmet Warming Drawer, this recipe produces consistently perfect porridge each and every time. Cooking the oats at a low and precise temperature in the warming drawer means they can be left over night, resulting in a hearty dish with a delicate texture. Ideal for breakfast or brunch topped with fresh fruit and seeds


Serves 2

  • 1 cup porridge oats

  • 3 cups milk or milk and water


To prepare in a Miele Gourmet Warming Drawer:

  1. Preheat a Miele Gourmet Warming Drawer on setting 4 (80°C) for 15 minutes.

  2. Place the porridge oats in a heatproof bowl and stir in the milk (or milk and water). Cover the bowl with foil and place in the warming drawer.

  3. Leave overnight or for 7 hours to cook the porridge. Stir and serve into individual bowls

To prepare in a Miele Steam Oven:

  1. Place one part oats and two parts liquid (either dairy or plant based milk) in individual bowls (heatproof cereal bowls are absolutely fine).

  2. Place the bowls over the wire rack in a Miele Steam Oven and steam at 100°C for 5 minutes. The steam oven will activate a “keep warm” function when the duration is finished and it will hold food at a temperature of 75°C.

  3. Remove the bowls from the steam oven, stir and serve.
